About this Bracha
Borei Nefashos, also known as Borei Nefashot, is recited on all food not made from grain or the שבעת המינים (seven special fruits with which Israel was blessed). This includes anything upon which we make the Bracha Rishona of Hoadama or Shehakol, such as vegetables, meat, fish, and dairy products, drinks, all fruits not included in the special fruits with which Israel was blessed 1, and rice, which is an exception: although it’s Bracha Rishona is Mezonos, it’s Bracha Acharona is Borei Nefashos 2.
